Sunday Morning Chats: #Interview with @cpmandara

John Satisfy: Today I am lucky to have Christina Mandara visit my blog.  With a talent for BDSM and Pony Play stories, Christina is someone you should take notice of.  Besides that she is such a very supportive erotica author, always helping out others spread the word.  Thanks for taking some time to sit down with me, can you please tell me a little bit about yourself?

Christina Mandara: Well, I'm a glass half-full rather than half-empty kinda person. I'm one of these people that always has to be doing something.  I love exploring and travelling. I've trekked over most of Europe and seen a lot of the world, although there's still plenty more I'd like to see. New Zealand and Cambodia are on the top of my travel list at the moment, but there will be many more. Whenever I pack my suitcase I'll always pop in a pair of trainers. I've run under the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and in the middle of rice paddy fields and bamboo in Japan. Rain doesn't deter me but it does dampen my enthusiasm a little.

Monsieur Martinet, vampire extraordinaire, is a master of his kind and can exert the kind of control over humans that Violetta has never seen before. He is a powerful force. He may well be unstoppable. And that's going to be a problem, because Violetta has killed every single one of Martinet's monstrous family - and he has a score to settle.  He's going to abduct her, imprison her, and then tie her down until she begs for mercy. And that's only the beginning...

I prefer hot weather to cold, am a quick learner, never stop daydreaming and wear impossibly high heels whenever I get the chance. I'm addicted to strong black coffee and chocolate. I think the best thing about being a writer is the research side of things. I'm a curious, inquisitive beast and am always asking questions.

JS:  Wow, sounds like you’re always moving and exploring.  Must be hard to find time to sit still and get work done.

CM:  Haha!  All my business and activity doesn't mean I can't sit still. Writing can keep me chained to a chair for a couple of hours straight on occasion (not in the kinky fashion alas!) - when I've got a good plot line to get down.  It’s not just writing either.  I also enjoy getting busy in the kitchen - especially with spicy dishes. I'm a fan of Thai and Indian cooking, but have had a go at a few Japanese dishes, too.

JS: Sounds yummy!  I love spicy dishes myself.  Do you cook off of recipes or are you one to just experiment and see what you come up with?

CM:  Haha! Back in the days when I was a control freak, I used to follow recipes to the letter and do exactly as the cookbook said. Now days, I've learnt that even if you do follow the instructions, things don't always go to plan - so a little improvisation here and there can come in handy. With Thai dishes especially, I hover over the pan and add a little more coriander, a little more lime, a lot more chilli, more sugar, more fish sauce etc until I get the required result. I am usually the laughing stock of the house as I work, but I get my own back... I can stand the heat of my cooking and I don't mean temperature wise ;) I have reduced several household members to tears, but they all refuse to beaten by a women, so.... WEG.

JS: Sounds like you bring the heat not just to your stories!  Sounds like you try to take creative chances.  What something that you created that surprised you?

CM: A whole series of books on pony play? It was written as one of those little naughty fantasies you have when the lights go out and for a giggle, I thought I'd send it to a couple of publishers who were sure to have heart failure when they received it. One did (the reply letter was quite something I can tell you!) but the other one (Chimera Books) loved it... and Pony Tales was born.

Then one novella became three and I've added in another three novels besides. I'm still amazed they've sold. It's largely down to the fact that 50 Shades of Grey has opened up the world to the idea of kink and I think it's a wonderful thing. I remember exploring naughty fantasies through books when I was first introduced to kink - this was back in the days when you had to get them off the top shelves in book stores. Erotica has now become one of the most popular genres on Amazon due to the advent of the eReader and long may that continue. Now I can read my naughty books wherever I like and no-one is any the wiser...

JS:  Well I'm glad not all publishing houses said Nay to your book.  Are these themes typical of your writings?

CM:  Pony Girls? Oh, I don't think so. It was just a fun place to start. I'm now finishing up the sixth and final book in the pony tales series, and then I'll complete my paranormal, steamy romance series 'Evading Death.' I like writing about non-consent or dubious consent because I think it makes for a great plot and sizzling dynamics between the characters. I like my heroines feisty and my heroes are alpha male, dominant types that know how to tame their women. It's a delicious fantasy world that I immerse myself in daily! I've always liked reading these types of books myself, 'pure escapism,' I guess you'd call it - but it's very satisfying to see your work in print and I'm still awed that people actually read my little offerings.

I could just as happily write along the lines of romance, science fiction or satire, if I put my mind to it. I have so many stories buzzing around inside my head, I'm positive I'll never manage to write them all down. I think the common theme for my writing will be 'BDSM,' though, and you'll more often than not see some steamy sex scenes in them.

JS:  Having so many story ideas can be both a blessing and a curse.  How do you decide which story to prioritize?

CM:  For me, it's a curse. My head is constantly buzzing with characters, and more often than not they're aren't in the book I'm currently writing.  Trying get rid of the voices in my head isn't easy LOL! On the plus side, it's going to be a while before I run out of stories. I have so many unfinished manuscripts on my laptop, it's scary.

As to prioritization, it's basically anything I manage to finish or am under obligation to finish from my publisher at the moment. I need to work on my time management skills. Hopefully, in a year or two's time, I'll be able to finish a few more of my projects. I need someone to lock me away in my writing cave... or chain me to my laptop. Hmm, I like that idea, might have to see if I can find a volunteer who can stand behind me with a bullwhip or something.

JS:  I can completely relate to that.  I know what it's like to have so many story ideas floating around all the time, it's finding the time and the place for them to come out and play that's tough.  What part of a book is the hardest part for you to write?

CM:  Haha! All the non-sexy in-between stuff. I love writing the naughty bits and like a bit of drama - but sometimes, to connect one part of the story to another you need to be a little descriptive and paint pictures for your reader. I'm not so good at the descriptive side of things, but I'm working on it. I could write dialogue all day, but descriptions of houses, places and people... I struggle.  Memo to me... must try harder (and must stop thinking about sex all the time!).

JS:  Was one of your stories particularly easy to write?  Or particularly difficult?

CM:  The 'Desiring Death' vampire TPE stories were really easy to write. The words just flowed and I ended up writing my quickest novel yet, in about three months (which is quick for me!) The 'Pony Tales' take considerably longer. There's much more research involved and because I'm at book six in the series, I have to be careful with continuity details etc. I love writing the really naughty stuff, but bizarrely - it takes me far longer. Go figure! It is a good outlet for my rather over-active imagination, though.

The trouble with me, is that I love starting things. Finishing things is a different kettle of fish entirely... I have lots of projects around the house that will attest to this fact. Ahem.

JS:  So do you have something new to tease my readers with?

CM:  I most certainly do! I've been working on a little vampire BDSM project. It has a total power exchange theme, which is one of my favourite things, with a twist. The vampire can control every single action the huntress (who is human) makes.

So they have a little stand-off and the feisty heroine thinks she's got things all in the bag and wrapped up as she prepares to kill the vamp, and then Monsieur Martinet let's the cat out of the bag. He's about to have his revenge for all the deaths she's bestowed upon his coven by controlling her body from the inside out. My usual sarcasm and irreverent humour can be found floating around, too :)

JS:  How can my readers keep up with you?

CM:  If anyone would like more information, I can be stalked here: FaceBook for silly jokes, naughty pictures and general blog updates. You can find me tweeting using the handles @cpmandara and @naughtynell101. My blog is full of little snippets from my upcoming works - namely 'The Ties That Bind,' and BDSM related articles. JS:  Great!  Do you have anything else you wanted to share?

CM:  Off the top of my head - no! You've got the details of my new release and I've wittered on enough about the others, so I'm good :)  -- thanks again for going to all this trouble with the interview. Tis very kind of you and perhaps you'll let me return the favour later in the year.

Thanks for having me along today, John. I've had lots of fun with these questions - but you'd probably gathered that!

JS:  I certainly did.  Thanks for sitting down with me and spending the time to let my readers get to know you.  Now as teased earlier, here’s a little from your latest story, Desiring Death:

Imagine a famed vampire huntress with a taste for death, so successful not a single vampire has ever managed to escape her wooden stakes or evade her silver knives. Her name is Violetta, and all that is about to change.

 Extra Naughty Excerpt:

‘Ready to call me God yet?’ He brought his head up out of the water, shook his hair to get rid of the excess water and watched as he splattered her body with tiny pearls of water, lit up by nothing more than the wan light of a waxing moon. While they were on the subject of waxing, that hair she had down there would have to go, but he’d issue his demands later. Right now, he wanted her limp, panting and breathless.

‘You’re an asshole.’ His princess had the most delicious temper. He wondered if they should work to subdue it or if he would let it have full reign and then show her the consequences of such displays of emotion. They would not be tolerated in the vampire world, and even though he was not yet positive he would change her, the odds of it happening were beginning to look ever more favourable.

He blinked at her, slowly, several times and then pressed his index finger sharply against her sphincter. He gave her a lengthy sigh to make sure she sensed his displeasure at her curt comment. ‘No, darling, this is an asshole and I intend to do big things with it later.
That will take some practise though, so you can breathe easy for the time being.’ A hand forked through his hair to bring the dark mass away from his face and his face dipped below the surface of the water once more, seeking the sweet spot of her body which tasted far better than any human food ever had.

He suckled and tongued. Flicked, forked, pulsated and tickled, and just as her face creased up tightly with the painful effort of holding her orgasm back, he stopped. He withdrew his tongue, licked his lips and tilted his head towards her with the biggest smile on his face.
‘You…’ her voice was tight and venomous. It was clear she was in pain, the pleasurable kind at least. He cut her off before the woman earned a spanking her bottom couldn’t yet cash.

‘You call me an asshole again and I’ll stretch this tight little hole of yours to proportions you would not believe possible.’ Withdrawing his fingers from her pussy, he pressed his now lubricated fingers against the smaller, puckered hole that was a touch further down and pressed forward for entry.

‘No, no, please God, no,’ she whimpered, her body thrashing and bucking at the contact as she sank into the wet wasteland of ripples below her.

He raised an eyebrow. ‘I told you you’d be calling me God before the night was out, didn’t I?’ Satisfied that she’d come down from her high, he lowered himself back down into the water and began to work her over again. He lightly nibbled upon her inner thighs, blew more bubbles gently across her sex and gave her only the lightest of teasing, tormenting touches with his tongue. His fingers pulled no punches, however. They worked inside her with a consistent, steady rhythm and she was now copiously dribbling with her body’s own lubrication, more than ready to feel his cock pounding away inside her. It would be, too.
